International dating is my thing. You never know what to expect, and there are some very pleasant surprises along the way.
One of the most fulfilling experiences was with sexy Polish men.
I knew very little about them before I went to Poland so, now I am here to share information on where to meet Polish guys, how to meet Polish men.
I will tell you what is it like to be dating a Polish man and what are Polish guys like, (and share some secret on what Polish guys in bed are like, shh).
Let us start! Loads of fun awaits you!

What are Polish Men Like?
Before actually going to Poland and meeting Polish guys, I had no idea whatsoever on what are Polish men like. I went there uninformed and did not know what to expect, so I decided to make this guide for you.
These are my impressions and if you have any other experience it is absolutely fine.
Here I will try to break some stereotypes and give light to the nation that has many members around the globe, in America, too, so if you meet someone with similar characteristics maybe ask them about their ancestry, just for fun.
One of the Polish guy stereotypes is that Poles are as blond as Swedish men, or any Scandinavian guy. The truth is, they are mostly blonde, yet they have a greyish undertone, and they go all the way to the brown shades.
There are some people who are dark-haired and olive-skinned yet, their origin is not purely Polish.
As a nation the Polish are tall. The average man in Poland is about 1.85 m or about 6 ft. They are thin, slim, and masculine, but not huge.
The Polish have mostly bluish-green and light brown eyes, but one of their most prominent characteristics is tall and wide foreheads, wide faces, and square chins.
This characteristic makes them appear really masculine, which, at least for me is a huge plus for the Polish guys.
They do take care of their physique but are not gym fanatics.
For my taste, they could have a bit more muscle mass, so that is why I gave them an 8.
Polish guys don’t give that much attention to high fashion, but they look fashionable all the same.
Now, ladies, I don’t mean to say that they are walking around in rags, but they are not to be seen in suits and tie either.
They take it casually, with simple jeans and jackets, but it looks just as hot to me, and maybe even hotter, then some Parisian high fashion runway model-like look.
Additional Rating – The Tinder 1000 Swipe Rating
On top of the physical trait ratings for Polish men, we have also created our own additional rating from the Polish men we see on Tinder. We call it the 1,000 Tinder swipe rating. It is extremely accurate and gives a very good overall picture of the men and how attractive they are.
This is how it works.
We swiped through 1000 different profiles in all of the major cities of Poland and took note of how many handsome men there are. We jotted down how many 8’s, 9’s and 10’s there are based on their profile pictures. Here is a quick breakdown.
- 0-100 is poor
- 100-200 is OK
- 200-300 is Good
- 300 – 400 Is Incredible
- 400 + is Mind-blowing (There are only a few of these)
With a Tinder Plus subscription, you can teleport to anywhere in the world and swipe for yourself. Find out more below In the section about how to meet Polish men. Also, make sure to check out my other country guides to see how their Tinder scores compare. “
Character Traits of Polish Men
When it comes to character, the stereotype is: they are cold, something like German men.
The truth, however, is that they are somewhat reserved at first in order not to offend you.
Once a Polish hottie gets to know you you will see his goofy and friendly side as well.
They have a lot of traditional values that they respect at all costs, they are gentlemen, and it seems like they go by the “all for one, and one for all” worldview.
1. Gentleman Rating
Manners and treating the woman you are with are big things in the Polish dating culture.
I can safely say that they have an old-school approach to dating and relationships so if you are going on a date with a Polish guy, get ready for a lot of holding the door for you, helping you out of the car, agreeing to let him pay the bill and so on.
For me, coming from America, all of this was a bit too much at the beginning. Hell, I didn’t even know that there are so many rules on how a man should behave on a date.
Yet, after a few dates, I became accustomed to it. Let’s face it, it is not difficult to get accustomed to being treated like a fairytale princess.
I literally swooned each time my ex placed a soft kiss on my hand.
This is not a fake attempt to win you over and then forget all about it when he gets you.
I have seen many older couples behaving in the exact same way.
Polish mothers raise gentlemen.
Integrity is a big deal for Polish guys.
They have traditional values and are sticking to them.
They also value politics and know a lot about national and world politics, so they can appear a little bit skeptic when it comes to political values, but you will know that nobody can take your man for a ride that easily.
Analytical and hard-working, respectful and respectable, your Polish boyfriend will never provide an opportunity for you to question his integrity.
For them honesty is important.
He will not lie and cheat to you so you can be relaxed about that aspect of dating Polish men.
He will honestly tell you if he has some issues to address, so you will not have to spend nights awake in your bed thinking about what is happening because he has lately been a little quiet.
Their honesty does not apply only to relationships.
They are honest with their families and with friends too.
They are honest and upfront with their intentions, although they can be stingy with words of endearment, the only fact that he is with you, in their minds, is evidence enough that he is into you.
Again, Polish guys do not cheat.
This probably has to do with their gentlemanly upbringing, their religion (mostly Catholic), and traditional values they have.
They are not fearful of commitment, so they will not fool around, if they are with you, you can be sure that they are only with you. (There is an exception to any rule of course, yet I haven’t even heard stories of any of my Polish friends cheating or being cheated on. )
As your Polish bf is loyal to you, he is loyal to his family, his group of friends (of which he has many), and last but not least- his favorite soccer team (they call if football there).
5. How protective are they?
I, personally think that they are quite protective and in a respectful way.
I deduced the 2 because the American girls’ mindset is that he is protective if he fights for you (like, physically) and speaks for you.
A Polish guy will rarely get into brawls.
Unless it is really necessary, I mean, there is a dangerous situation and getting physical in that sense is the only option, a Pole will always approach a problem verbally and calmly.
So, the “he fought for me, so he must love me” cliche does not apply here.
Also, a Polish guy will let you speak your mind because he knows that you are a woman of integrity, and he will not try to diminish it unless he notices that somebody is being rude or abusive.
Their protectiveness takes the form of “I respect your strength, yet I am here to jump in if you need me”. They are never pushy or restrictive.
6. How resourceful are they?
Oh, well, I would give them an 11 here if that was an option.
They are very well educated and informed about any current situation in the world.
Culture, politics, economy, sports.
They are familiar with quite everything.
They enjoy talking about various subjects and are always prepared to discuss and share opinions.
You can always ask anything that you know are his interests or general interests of Polish people, and he will give you some helpful information.
Especially you show genuine interest and want to get to know his country’s history and lifestyle.
They are also very hardworking and pretty capable around the house.
They are quite the handymen. Very rarely will a Polish guy resort to calling a plumber or an electrician. If it is a fairly minor problem, he will fix it.
My ex fixed my blow-dryer, if he wasn’t around when I thought it broke, I would probably throw it away and spend money on a new one, but his skill saved me from wasting money.
Maturity is one of their strongest characteristics. Even in their early 20’s, they are much more mature and self-conscious than an average American guy of the same age.
They finish all their obligations in record time, they start earning enough money to support a family very soon, and they are ready to commit to having a family.
They have a serious approach to life.
Do not get me wrong, they have a fun side, but when it comes to responsibilities and what needs to be done, they are not joking around.
Childish fights, holding their mother’s skirt, and depending on somebody else, is never an option.
Although they are highly self-confident when it comes to working, social life and even mentality, I think that when it comes to dating, they could up their game a little.
They are not very expressive, so they either appear cold or shy.
For Polish girls, that is probably what they are used to, and they know how to read the subtle signs.
With international dating, however, the intention can be lost in translation (pun intended).
A Polish friend once told me he was madly in love with a friend I was traveling with.
Did he tell her? Give out any sign?
What happened, she moved back to America never even knowing that he liked her. If only he was “less of a gentleman” and expressed his feelings.
9. Friendliness vs. Reserved
I have already mentioned that they are stereotypically characterized as cold. Yet, they are only reserved when talking to strangers.
This is both the sign of respect for you and the insecurity of whether their friendliness could be interpreted as being too pushy or too forward.
This means that you can think that he is not interested even if he is if you are expecting him to be hugging you or whispering in your ear the moment he meets you.
This goes hand in hand with their gentlemanly manners.
In America, catcalling is a thing of today.
A Pole will not call you ‘babe’ or even ‘honey’ unless they are really close to you.
If you are dating, you can expect some terms of endearment, yet not too much.
Polish guys are rather practical, and they adopt that approach in dating, too.
Your Polish boyfriend will consider tit quite enough to show his affection by fixing up your sink, rather than telling you he loves you in front of your friends.
Apart from being matured, the Polish man is known for hospitality and very accommodating. On my visit to Poland, I discovered that the average Polish man is well-mannered compared to the conventional European man.
I will suggest you give it a try by dating a Polish man, as a couple of them are known for loving genuinely.
Dating a Polish Man: Pros and Cons
If you have so far liked the Poles from my experience and would like to know more about what are Polish guys like in relationships, keep on reading.
There are some Polish men dating tips coming your way also.
1. Treat you like a princess
To know what are Polish men like in relationships you do not have to look any further from any Disney cartoon.
Prince Eric and Prince Charming are quite an equal match to your Polish boyfriend.
They are respectful, kind, and attentive in a spontaneous effortless way, but do not think that they will shower you with expensive gifts or spoil you.
Their love is quite practical. I will go so far as to call it a modern-day fairytale.
2. They are ready to commit
The American guys are notorious for their fear of commitment, so if you are tired of that, Poland is where you should go.
Polish guys are ready to commit to the girl they love pretty early.
You do not have to wait years and years before he pops the question. If things are going well between you- there is a ring coming your way.
3. Gentle lovers
Polish men in bed are also gentlemanly, and they will not insist on even getting to that stage before you are ready.
The situation will go at the speed that you are comfortable with and they are ready to openly talk about any issue that might occur, as well as mutual fantasies and desires.
1. Scheduling conflict
Dating Polish guys can be a bit tiresome if you are spontaneous and/or do not like sports.
The first thing has to do with their responsibilities; he will not be able to see you unless everything he has planned for the day is done.
And trust me, this is better, unless you want your boyfriend absent-minded all night.
And what about sports?
Poles are huge fans of Soccer, and if there is an important game on TV that night he will probably want to spend the evening with his friends.
You are welcome to the group if you will drink your beer and not ask many non-soccer related questions. Otherwise, use the night to catch up with your girlfriends.
2. Traditional attitudes
If you have an open mind, some of the traditional attitudes and values might bother you. Your options are: leave or make peace with the fact.
A polish guy does not depend on his family but he seeks their approval, even later in life, when he has a family of his own.
Also, if you are not religious, you might have a hard time listening to him telling you that you are wrong. Get those conversations out of the way early on in the relationship, so that feelings are not hurt.
How to meet a Polish man
Do you like what you see so far?
Are sexy Polish guys on your list for international dating yet?
I would go back to Poland anytime, trust me.
So, going to Poland is obviously the best way to take your pick at the handsome Polish men, but if you want to meet Polish men online before you venture to Poland here is one of the most popular websites for international dating, and more specifically, for all of you American women looking for Polish men.
Having tried many of the dating sites catering to the Polish men, I can say with certainty that Polish Hearts is at the very top of the list.
Let’s take a look at some of the features of the website and some tips on how to meet single Polish men.
Polish Hearts is a dating website that has the largest database of Polish people (and people of Polish descent) in the world.
Although the vast majority of members are Polish, the website is not restricted to Polish people only.
It is open to all of us who like international dating and would like to meet a Polish person.
Polish Hearts has a Polish and an English version, so speaking Polish is not necessary to use it (which is great, because Polish is hard, but more on that later).
The website has a large and active membership, so meeting a hot Polish guy to your liking is very likely, and especially if you are looking for a serious romantic relationship, or just a friendship.
Hookups are not a very common practice on this website but, as long as you are up-front with what you need nobody can judge you.
So, how do you sign up?
You have two options.
You can either use your Facebook account or use your e-mail and sign up manually.
In both cases, you will have to choose your user name.
Do it carefully as you will not be able to change it later if you do not like it.
Signing up via Facebook will transfer your basic data, and if you decide to sign up via email you will have to provide some basic information like sex, birthdate and a password.
After this step, your profile will be verified by the administrator and they will send you a verification code.
Polish Hearts claims that they have a great security system and that, because of that, there are almost no fake profiles.
They are carefully screened out and removed.
The sign-up process is very fast as there are no personality tests.
The profiles are not meticulously filled so they are not as detailed as you would imagine, yet you have the option to use both basic (sex, age, location) and advanced (wants children, smoking, body features, and so on) search for free. There is a limited number of profile photos, and they are also free for anybody to see.
You can suspend or delete your profile anytime, and if there is a necessity, you can even block a user.
Making contact is reserved for the paying members in terms that on a standard membership you can’t send messages, and there is no chat feature. Sending and receiving gifts and smiles, as well as, “who visited me” feature is available for anyone.
As a standard member, you can freely communicate with other members if they add you to their VIP list (which only premium members can do).
For all of you active ladies, there is an Android app with all the same features that you can download from the Play Store for free. If you are not an Android user, there isn’t an app for you.
But do not worry, the website is fully optimized to be used on mobile phones.
The special features which this app offers are Black List, My Friends, Who Remembered Me, Who Visited Me, My VIP List, Sending Reactions and Virtual Things, and Gifts.
Traveler’s guide for meeting Polish men
After I have shared some of my experience in international dating with you and how to meet a Polish guy, and after you have fallen in love with the Polish guys online, it is high time you set out to Poland and met a hot Polish guy in real life.
I have decided to share some specific tips on where to meet Polish men.
Hopefully, this will give you a kickstart, but I am sure that, once you are in Poland, and wherever in Poland you are, you will be able to meet Polish guys and snag one for yourself.
Krakow is the second-largest city in Poland with many interesting places to see and visit. If you like cultural and historical places, there are a lot of them to pick from.
You can even ask some of the locals near-by to tell you about the buildings, and the city’s rich history, especially if you come across a guy you fancy.
They will help you get your way around town, and you might even end up on a spontaneous coffee date since they are culturally conscious and like an educated and well-informed girl.
Coffe, or vodka? Well, maybe both. The Polish drink during the day, similar to Russian guys, so you can go to a bar and meet your SO there.
Krakow is very famous as a party destination so there is an assortment of restaurants, bars, and clubs to choose from.
There is literally something for everyone (Frantic offers theme parties and DJs, Shakers- a Ladies’ Friday,..), Zlew is a ‘vodka and appetizer’ bar where you can play darts, but my all-time favorite is Cocktails&Song- a karaoke bar where you can sing with anyone in the room.
It is a great place to meet locals who frequent it.
Poznan is a university city and one of three academic centers in Poland.
It is a great place for young educated people to meet their peers of the same qualities.
The locals are friendly and helpful and it will not be a problem to meet hot Polish guys there.
There are a lot of nightclubs and bars, as well as an international theatre festival that takes place there every year.
The artificial lake Malta is a great place for all the active ladies if you want to go swimming, skiing or ice-skating depending on the season.
The youthfulness of the city brings out this spirit in anyone.
I am well aware that this is not a place where you can meet hot Polish guys, however, to have any use of this website you have to be located in Poland.
This website is actually managed by a group of people who have ideas on activities but are looking for somebody to do that with or go with.
How many times did it happen that you wanted to see a movie or a concert, or just plain go hiking but your friends were simply not up to that?
Well, this is how the website functions.
People have an idea and are looking for a friend to share the experience. You can pick the activity you like, make a friend (or maybe more) along the way.
And, even if you do not like the person you have contacted and took part in the activity for more than just friends, the places you go to are bound to have more people sharing your interests.
Otherwise, just meeting new people and making friends can pave the way towards meeting an interesting Pole to date.
How to conquer a Polish man’s heart
After I have shared some tips on where to meet them, here are some tips for dating a Polish man and what you should or shouldn’t do to conquer his heart.
Since their integrity is really strong, they expect their women to show integrity as well. Being needy and depending on your partner is not something they can tolerate for long.
Their idea of a romantic relationship is a partnership – two people with their own set of interests living life together, so butting in his business, and wallowing around the house when he is out with friends is not something you would want to do.
Instead, go out with your girlfriends, take up a sport, etc.
I shave already said that they are more than loyal. In their eyes, loyalty should go both ways, as well as trust.
First of all, never cheat on a Polish boyfriend as he will never forgive you.
For Poles, this sign of disrespect is something they wouldn’t even pretend to try to forgive.
The other thing is, do not make jealous scenes.
He is loyal, and he needs you not to accuse him if you are too jealous, he will find that off-putting (but, on the other hand, who wouldn’t?)
Having an educated and well-informed girl on their hands is important to the Polish guys.
Since they are mostly highly educated, and even if they do not have a college degree, they will be well-read and have all kinds of information on all kinds of subjects, they do not want a dud who has nothing interesting or important to say.
Even if you do not have a lot of information about current stuff happening in Poland, win points by showing interest and genuinely listening to what he has to say.
4. Ego boost
Like any other man on the planet, your seemingly cold Polish boyfreind secretly desires affirmation from you.
So, whether he looks good in those jeans, or has done an amazing job painting the old patio furniture, you should pay him a compliment.
What you want to take care of, is not to overdo it, or he would not believe you and will see through your intention to boost his ego.
Another way to boost his ego in a more natural way is to actually ask him for help. Seriously, anything works.
Ask him to fix your sink, or hang your curtains or even change a lightbulb – he will never tell you no and call you incapable.
It is completely normal to him that a guy, not a girl, should do this
5. Meeting the family
You already know that family is important for Polish guys, so, you will probably be invited to a family Sunday lunch quite soon, and definitely sooner than you would in the USA.
In this case, gracefully accept the invitation and bring a gift to his mother (flowers or candy will do the trick).
Resisting this will tell him that you are not serious with him and he might lose interest.
And this goes the other way, too.
If you do not offer to show him off to your mother via video chat soon, he might find you uninterested. You could wait for him to ask you first though if you are not comfortable with meeting the families so early in the relationship.
6. Language Barrier
So, have finally decided to go to Poland, you have already met one or two of the typical Polish guys. What next? How do you speak to them, do they understand and speak English?
It is one of the Polish men stereotypes is that they only speak Polish.
According to some statistics, about 30% of people in Poland speak English, mostly the younger generation (people younger than 35).
So your chances of finding English-speaking Polish males are not quite stellar, yet it is not as tragic as with French guys for example.
The comforting thing is that Poles speak other languages besides English and Polish so if you are familiar with German, Russian, Ukranian or even Yiddish you are significantly raising your chances for some good quality communication.
In Europe, it is all about geography so it is quite understandable that languages spoken in Poland are native languages of the surrounding countries.
Speaking Slovak or Checz could also be helpful since the languages are similar to Polish and could help you understand some basic expressions.
Also, you can learn the language.
There is a saying that a man’s worth is bigger the more languages he speaks, so why not learn Polish?
It might prove challenging at first, but your Polish boyfriend would certainly appreciate the effort.
Why would he go through the trouble of perfecting English to communicate with you more fluently if you would not give him the same courtesy?
Start by learning a few beginner phrases like “thank you”, “hello” or even “I love you”.
The effort of learning the language to be closer to him and his culture is quite attractive in the eyes of handsome Poles.

Top 3 Hottest Polish men
Now that I have given you all the Polish men dating tips I have and described typical Polish men it is high time that I have given you a few real-life examples of hot Polish men.
So I chose three of them as top-notch representatives of everything I have talked about in this guide.
Let me surprise you that there are many, many celebrities in Hollywood alone who have Polish origins, let alone the rest of the USA, so if you like the idea of dating a Polish guy you may not have to look as far as Europe.
Who would guess that Zac Efron has Polish ancestors? I probably wouldn’t but, it’s true.
Here are my top 3 picks of handsome Polish guys.
1. Paul Wesley
Paul Wesley is a Polish-American actor mostly recognized by his portrayal of Stefan Salvatore in teen drama series “The Vampire Diaries”.
He was raised in the USA after his family moved there from Poland when he was a child. His real name is Pawel Tomasz Wasilewski, and he was born in 1982.
He is tall, blond, and handsome as many of the Polish men are. He has piercing blue eyes and a wider face, and a signature wide jawline that makes every Polish guy extremely masculine.
If you would like to watch some movies or TV series where he has acted, there is a number of them in various genres, so you can enjoy is beautiful physique.
Some of the TV series are “Fallen”, “Fabled”, and “Tell me a story”, and his movies are “Before I disappear”, “Late Bloomers” and “Mothers and Daughters” etc.
Take your pick and enjoy, even if you may not like a specific genre, you will surely find it more than satisfying to look at Paul for a few hours.
2. Jared Padalecki
Jared Padalecki was born in 1982 to an American mother and a Polish father. He is most famous for his role as Sam Winchester in a long-standing TV series with a very large fan base – “Supernatural”.
His other noted works are “Gilmore Girls”, “Friday the 13th” and “Christmas cottage”.
Although he is not purely Polish, he has found a spot on this list because of his good looks that are characteristic for Polish guys – he is very tall, fair-haired and has that Polish charm and kindness in his blue-ish green eyes.
He has long hair which makes him appear slightly scrappy looking.
If you are not a fan of anything supernatural and you do not want to commit to watching “Supernatural” (although you will most surely fall in love with his talent) you can just try googling him and bask at the sight of him only in the picture
3. Jerzy Janowicz
I have already said that Polish guys are into sports so it is quite logical that one of their most successful sportsmen finds his place on this list.
My choice here is Jerzy Janowicz, a very successful, young tennis player.
He was born in 1990 in Poland. He is 125 on the ATP list right now, and his best placement was 64. In 2008 he was number 5 in the junior ATP list.
As Polish men usually are, he is quite tall, actually, really tall at 6′ 8”. He has the Polish signature blond hair and blue eyes, and masculine facial features.
As a young sportsman, he has a gorgeous bod.
Take a look at his matches, or at least some of his photos online.
So, if you like your men thin, tall and blue-eyed Poland could just be the place for you.
Yes, they are different from American guys, in the sense that they are a little bit more traditional which we could find strange in this day in age, yet they have a lot of qualities that are enticing to free and open-minded American girls.
I had the opportunity to date Polish guys, and my experience was overall quite satisfying.
I hope this guide will encourage you to go to fairytale-like Poland and experience international dating with Polish guys.
Enjoy! Or as the Polish would say-cieszyć się!
