Before we get to the troublesome world of international dating, I should teach you more about what are Thai men like and break some Thai men stereotypes.

There are always good things and bad things and we shouldn’t generalize the whole nation based on individuals, but there are some things that most Thai men have in common.

These things might depend on which part of the country they’re from, so don’t be afraid to let some hot Thai men surprise you!

Physical Appearance

Western people often think that all Asians look similar.

Well, the truth is that most of the time, they feel the same way about us.

The one thing that we can also agree on is that we look at each other as exotic people, which gives us an exotic vibe.

Just like most of their Asian neighbors, Thai males usually have a round face, oblong eyes, a flat nose, and high, prominent cheekbones.

However, unlike the Japanese and Korean, their skin is not as pale, and they are in fact quite tanned.

When it comes to their built their bodies are not as slender as some other Asian people, but they are also not too pudgy or obese like Americans usually are.

However, the biggest issue that I ran into is their height.

Typical Thai men are not as tall as I would personally like, but there’s still some of them that are tall enough, and some that are perfect for women who are of smaller stature.

The average height of a Thai man is about 5’6”, and this can be a big con for a lot of people.

But this is just a physical trait and you might find out more things about them that you like.

Style

They kind of get a high grade in this area because Bangkok is one of the liveliest and colorful places that I have ever visited, but when it comes to their fashion sense and the way that they dress I can’t really say that Thai men have a lot of style.

Well, yeah, of course, that some of them do, but if you’re not looking for a hi-so (or high-society) man from Bangkok, you’re not likely to find sexy Thai men that care that much about fashion itself.

However, people from Thai tend to dress colorfully, so at least you can know that your Thai boyfriend won’t be boring!

Besides the physical traits, what are Thai men like in relationships?

I can’t say that the attributes listed below are the best representation of every Thai man, but it’s a pretty good description of most of them if you ask me.

Here are some of the most important things that you should know before dating a Thai guy.

1. Gentleman Rating

When you start dating Thai guys they’re most likely going to try to sweep you off your feet.

This isn’t something that will last forever, though.

The truth is, if a man is truly in love with you he’s going to treat you like a princess no matter how much time has passed, and the same thing goes for Thai guys.

Another pretty interesting thing is their relationship with sex. Usually, a Thai man is going to refuse if you ask him to come over, especially the first couple of times.

This is how they try to show you respect because that is how Thai men in bed act like.

You have to be careful with this because if you invite him back to your place he might think of you only as his “gik”, which is something like a lover.

2. Integrity

The men of Thailand love their families and they respect them a lot. That is why you have to show them respect too.

When you meet Thai men and their families you have to show them how much you respect their country and origins, and they will definitely love you.

Another thing that you should know is that every man above the age of 21 has served in the army, so they’re also disciplined and have love and respect for their country.

Not all Thai guys are like this, so they’re keepers.

3.  Honesty

I can’t say for sure that being an honest Thai guy is something that can be seen often.

Actually, I had more close encounters with Thai guys who were lying to me. However, the cases that I was a part of or heard about all had something to do with the Thai dating culture.

In Thailand, it’s normal to have a lover on the side, and most guys still won’t admit to you that they’re taken.

There are always exceptions, but they’re pretty rare.

4. Loyalty

There are always going to be cheaters, no matter where you are.

Every country has them, but dating Thai guys can be exceptionally bothersome because most of them have the “gik”, or their girlfriends on the side.

However, not everybody does, and you’ll for sure find some handsome Thai guys that are opposed to the trend.

5. How protective are they?

Your date might get too protective of you, depending on the situation.

Also, they will probably consider approaches from any other men as threats and will try to keep you to themselves.

Not to mention that if you decide to join their family they’ll treat you well, so there’s no problem in this area.

This is kind of a normal thing, but remember that it’s just important to trust each other and be honest.

Sure, they’re friendly and they know how to joke around, but they’re still pretty mature when it comes to relationships.

So look patiently among all of the handsome Thai men and try to find the one for you.

Especially if you find the right one and you guys decide to be in a more serious relationship rather than just a fling.

8. Self-confidence

One of the biggest problems that Thai guys have is their overall shyness.

If you want to meet Thai men chances are you’re going to have to wait for a while before any of them approach you.

I’m not sure if they’re this shy because of their insecurities about the way that they look or if it has something to do with the way that they meet each other and get into relationships in general.

In Thailand, unlike in most Western countries, you don’t meet people by approaching them. Advances like that are not common and therefore probably not pleasant for most Thai people.

In fact, they usually meet each other through their mutual friends.

Also, most of them go to all-boys or all-girls schools to focus on their studies, so the truth is that they just don’t have much knowledge of how to approach the other gender.

The good thing is that if you find a Thai guy worth keeping he’s going to do anything to keep you around.

And if you happen to find a guy who doesn’t act like this there’s no point in staying with him at all! There’s plenty of hot Thai guys out there who aren’t going to take you for granted.

3. They’re the friendliest people on Earth

Even if you realize that the two of you aren’t meant to be with each other in a romantic way, you’re going to find one of the best friends in your Thai guy.

And even if you end up in a relationship, you know that you’ll have a good friend in him.

1. They are heavy drinkers

Most Thai guys like to drink and they like to drink a lot.

A Thai guy is happiest when he can spend some time just hanging out with some friends when drinking beer and whiskey.

2. The normalized cheating

There are almost zero chances that you’ll meet Thai guys and that they will actually approach you and start flirting with you.
