Japanese males are around the same height as a typical European woman, with an average height of 5’ 7.4’’ (171.2 cm), but studies over the years have shown that they are getting taller.
Some of the characteristics that typical Japanese guys have are straight black hair, flat nose, prominent cheekbones, and those dreamy oblique eyes, but there are always exceptions.

If you were to find the most adequate word to describe Japanese guys and their style- perhaps distinctive does the job.
Unlike numerous nations where dressing a bit feminine clothes would be seen as shocking, taboo, or whatever, these oriental cuties have no problem wearing whatever they want.
They are extremely creative and willing to combine various styles and unusual colors, which usually results in something unique and artistic.

So, what are Japanese guys like?
I have to admit that character is an extremely individual thing, so I can’t just say that all Japanese men act the same.
However, some things are common and are not just Japanese guy stereotypes, and I’m gonna let you know more about them.
1. Gentleman Rating
Some American women looking for Japanese men are going to be unpleasantly surprised when it comes to how chivalrous they are.
The cultures are different, so if you’re used to your date opening doors or paying the bill wordlessly as most Western men do, you should know that the situation in Japan is a bit different.
But, these guys are going to make sure that you’re happy and satisfied in other ways, which also goes for what are Japanese guys in bed like, if you know what I mean.
2. Integrity
International dating can be a problem for many reasons, but what are Japanese guys like in relationships?
The biggest issue is the devotion that the Japanese have towards their work. Some of them work for 12 hours a day, and it might not be for you.
They are even able to not see their friends or family for months and then act as if nothing happened once they see them.
So, if you want somebody who’s constantly going to pay attention to you, you should either give up on that or find somebody who doesn’t have a job.
3. Honesty
So, imagine this: you’re dating one of the handsome Japanese guys, you’re going out and having fun. And he’s honest. He answers all the questions that you have. If you ask them enough times.
Here’s the thing. Dating a Japanese guy can be hard if you’re used to your partner telling you how they feel all the time.

I have to say it – guys are always going to be guys!

As we said before, Japanese men are usually obsessed with their work.
This can be a good thing when it comes to resourcefulness. The handsome Japanese men are hard workers, as the history of their culture is patriarchal. But the times are changing, so there’s a lot more equality.
Other than monetary resourcefulness, they are the same in other areas, mostly because it’s expected of them to know how to do things to survive and not bother anyone while they’re at it.
This is the reason why they can be stubborn at times, but let’s admit it, we’re stubborn too.
7. Maturity
When it comes to the level of maturity, dating Japanese guys can be a complicated thing.
The good things are their honesty and the fact that they’ll listen to any problems that you want to rant and share with them.

But there’s a problem that we mentioned before – they’re not that good at communication.

Unfortunately, studies have shown that most Japanese people aren’t happy with the way they look.
Whether it’s the influence of Western beauty standards or the ever-changing new fashion, it seems like not a lot of people are satisfied with their looks at all.
But, even though people say that they’re mostly shy, I noticed that they often aren’t.
Even though in Japan it’s normal for a girl to approach a guy, guys aren’t sitting around with nothing to do.
You won’t find the Japanese men as loud and boisterous as for example Americans or Russians, but they don’t need to be loud to be heard.
Trust me, sexy Japanese men know that they’re sexy. And that’s also how Japanese men in bed are like.
9. Are they friendly or reserved?
While they can approach you with confidence, Japanese guys can seem cold and uninterested at first.
But they’re actually great and super friendly once you get to know them and get used to the way that their culture is.

Yes, I know I just wrote about how Japanese men are uncommunicative, but I also said that that can change over time and that there are always exceptions.
And you should cherish these moments, as these conversations can be special even if there’s a language barrier between the two of you.
2. Eating some of the best food there is
Japanese cuisine is known across the world, but there’s nothing better than eating it right there in Japan with a guy that you’re interested in.
Also, he most likely knows how to cook and will treat you to some incredible home-made meals that you probably never tried before.
But in all honesty, eating Japanese food there will make you like it even if you didn’t have the taste for it before.
3. They’re resourceful
As I said before, Japanese men are known to be hard workers, but they’re also resourceful in other areas.
When you meet Japanese men don’t be surprised to find out that they know how to cook and do housework, as they are meticulous and can’t stand bad hygiene.

1. He’s probably going to be a workaholic
That’s just the way that they are. Work comes first for them and it’s a sign of respect to stay in the office until late in the night.
However, I completely understand why this is a problem for people who aren’t used to this. Most people don’t want to be with somebody who dares to put work first in front of their significant other.
But, maybe it just takes some getting used to.
2. Drinking habits
This also has something to do with their work because it’s kind of considered rude to deny your coworkers and even your boss when they call you out for a night of drinking.

Well, at least for me.
He just looks so elegant and kind at the same time, and it makes him irresistible.
He’s an actor born in 1989, which some might consider to be young, but look at him. He looks great and he acts great! What more could you want?
Masaki Okada is known as the actor who played Sekime Kyogo in “Hanazakari no Kimitachi” and Takuma Kakinouchi in “I Give My First Love To You”.
He’s a bit taller than an average Japanese guy – he’s 5’11’’ (181 cm), which makes him even more perfect.
2. Toma Ikuta
Toma Ikuta is from Hokkaido, Japan, where he also grew up.
He was born in 1984, and became a successful star during his life. He also had a part in “Hanazakari no Kimitachi”, but the role that propelled him to stardom was in a drama called “Mawang”.
He’s a funny and down-to-earth guy, and also incredibly romantic.
Once he mentioned how his dream date would be viewing the city in the night time from some dark hilltop, and I couldn’t agree more.
His sense of humor is hilarious, he admitted that he thinks that his best asset is his ass, and once again, I have to agree.
3. Jin Akanishi
Jin Akanishi is a talented young…well, everything. He’s an actor, singer-songwriter, voice actor and many other things.
