That’s not to say it’s impossible but it’s just not what WetHunt is all about.

While full user numbers aren’t forthcoming, there are a few facts and figures that back up the fact that this is a busy hook up site.

• 165 000 people are active on the site each week
• That’s well over 20 000 per day and 660 000 each month

That sure indicates that WetHunt is a popular site as we suggested.

But as we will find, it’s not without its detractors, despite the fact that it seems so popular.

WetHunt | Gender split and age ranges

Because it is a hook up sight, we’ve got to ask the question.

Will WetHunt be like other similar sites and be dominated by male users.

The answer is yes.

And it’s an emphatic yes, that’s for sure.

We talking about a ratio of 3 to 1 that male profiles dominate WetHunt over female profiles.

Yes, around 76% of all profiles on-site are male users while just 24% of all profiles have been registered by female users.

That’s not a problem if you are a member of the fairer sex, that’s for sure.

You’ve got so many extra men that you can be really picky in who you hook up with, right?

But if you are a male, well, you’ve certainly got competition!

As for the age ranges, I could not believe who had the most users on the site.

It’s people who are 55 and older.

In fact, they account for 40% of all users.

I don’t think I’ve even seen that before.

So let’s talk a little bit about registering for a profile on the site.

While you can do this from your cellphone, you cannot dow it with an app.

That’s because there is none.

But if you cannot bear to think of doing anything without your phone, well, WetHunt’s website is primed for mobile viewing, so you can still use your trusty handset.

Provide just your name, email, gender and age and you’ve started your registration.

No password?

No, you don’t need one.

For me, that’s a major security alert especially as you won’t need to verify your email either.

It’s all a bit troubling, it really is.

Following that, you are taken to the website.

Of course, seeing that the registration didn’t include anything to do with your profile, it’s best to start with that first.

Your WetHunt profile

Listen, hook up sites tend not to have very detailed profiles and you will find that WetHunt is very much the same.

Use a decent profile pic because that’s what’s going to get you noticed.

Also, you can fill in certain details, for example, work, education and a section where you can tell a potential suitor a little more about yourself.

But all-in-all, it’s not that impressive.

We talked about your profile picture but there are some rules to follow, otherwise you might find it rejected.

For example, it must include your full face, it mustn’t include other people and it mustn’t include pets.

Finding your way around

Hook up sites often have advertising.

WetHunt really takes it to the next level, however.

There is so much advertising here that it really gets too much pretty quickly.

But if you can put up with them – and they are everywhere – you shouldn’t have too much trouble navigating the site.

The main menu system you will use to do so is found on the left-hand side of the screen.

As I said, from a design point of view, the site does what it needs to.

It’s never going to win any design awards, that’s for sure.

Effectiveness

So let’s talk about just how effective WetHunt is in helping you find the perfect hook up.

If you’ve done any research about the site, you no doubt would have come across many other reviews calling out WetHunt for the fact that there seem to be tons of fake profiles.

Now fake profiles are something that many hook up sites have.

It’s just on WetHunt, their profiles are very active.

And that becomes a problem because it seems like all they are trying to do is fleece you out of your money.

I am going to talk a little more about this later in the review.

Searching for potential hook ups on WetHunt

Well, there are numerous ways that you can go about this.

First up, let’s talk about Encounters.

Most dating sites have a feature like this these days.

And it certainly can work.

It’s a matchup game in which you are presented with profiles of other users near your location.

And like in any other matchup game, you have to decide whether you like them or move onto the next one.

For me, these are always a hit or miss affair.

Yes, it can work but you might end up liking thousands of profiles and nothing happens.

And on WetHunt, that is a distinct possibility.

Well, I have mentioned the fake profiles already.

Some of these clearly are employed by WetHunt to get you to buy into membership on the site.

Others are profiles that are “dead” so to speak to just boost the user numbers.

Either way, you need to be very wary.

Look, I am not saying that this is a site where real people don’t have profiles, because they do.

You just need to really keep your wits about you when dealing with someone.

Speaking of ways to hopefully find someone to hook up with, there is also the Feed menu.

Again, this is going to show you various user profiles that are based on your location and a few other inputs.

Again, there are tons of fake profiles here, because everybody looks like a supermodel, that’s for sure.

You might get lucky and find someone that’s not fake but is it worth the effort when there are other hook up sites you could try.

In the terms and conditions of the site, there is mention of staff profiles on the site.

Are these fake profiles run by staff?

They well could be?

Also, there has been mention online of many duplicate photos, or different photos of the same person appearing on different profiles.

Again, that’s just boosting user numbers at the end of the day.

Also, if you read through the terms and conditions, your details are free for those who run WetHunt to use on other dating sites they own.

That means your profile can be taken and uploaded as-is to a completely different dating site.

That’s without your knowledge but you have given permission in the terms and conditions.

Again, while your profile is real, it’s just been used to boost numbers on another dating site.

WetHunt profile indicators

So interestingly, WetHunt has these profile indicators on every user’s profile.

These are:

• UP which is an unreal personality (in other words could be a fake profile)
• ON which is a real personality that is online (should be a real user)
• OFF which is a real personality that is offline (should be a real user)

While you can use these as an indicator, I am not sure how much you can really trust them given the fact of what we know about the site.

You will also notice that they have a color, either green or red.

If it’s green, then WetHunt says the person is likely to respond to messages.

If it’s red, then WetHunt says the person probably won’t respond to messages.

It’s interesting to me that they even have a system like this.

Again, it’s an indication that the site is indeed filled with fake profiles.

Making contact on WetHunt

Before I get into how you would go about making contact with someone on WetHunt, I first want to mention people reaching out to you.

And it will happen.

In my case, it was almost instantly.

Before I had even finished my profile I was getting messages in my inbox.

For me, this points back to either the fact that the staff-run profiles are used to entice you into spending money on the site, or the site has automatic messages that get sent out.

I’d probably go with that because if you reply with something random, their reply doesn’t relate to that.

Just another huge red warning sign in my book.

But what about if you do actually find someone that you want to reach out to.

Well, it’s simple enough, you can message them for free from their profile.

Yes, messaging on the site is free.

If you have a decent conversation, make sure you add them to your contact list.

This is similar to liking their profile on other sites and it’s an easy way to keep track of real users that you might want to hook up with at some point.

Another thing about the messaging system on WetHunt that’s pretty neat is the fact that you can add photos into your messages.

Key Features

While the site is free to use, there is a membership feature that allows for some extra quality of life improvements.

Let’s take a look at what these are:

1. View full profiles and all photos of other users

As a regular user, you can only see partial profiles of other users and not all of their photos either.

Members, however, can see full profiles as well as any of the up to 20 photos that other users have uploaded to the site.

This might be useful in deciding if it’s a fake profile or not.

2. Connect with top users on the site

Members are able to get into contact with the most popular users on the site.

This isn’t really going to help anyone, especially if they don’t live near your location as it just won’t be possible to hook up with them should it come to that.

3. Access all other sites owned by SPDate

Well, ok, if you really want to.

SPDate, who runs WetHunt also has other dating sites that you can get free access to should you sign up for a membership.

Let’s be honest, that’s not key features to write home about at all.

I guess, however, if the pricing of membership is low enough, they might be worth considering.

Pricing

And no, the pricing of membership on WetHunt isn’t low enough at all.

But I want to talk about something first up.

WetHunt offers a “Free Membership” to the site.

But to prove you are of legal age, they need to bill your credit card at $0.99.

That’s all good and well.

Except if you don’t read the fine print, it’s a subscription that will take $39.00 off your credit card every 30 days.

So just be aware of that.

Also, uncheck the boxes that give you free membership to other dating sites as well in the SPDate group.

Because those are subscriptions as well and you will be billed each month if you don’t cancel them.

So effectively, there isn’t really a free membership and if you want the added key features, you are going to pay $39.99 per month.

That’s certainly not worth it.

Conclusion and Overall Rating

Ok, so you’ve read the review and you’ve probably formulated an opinion about WetHunt in your mind already.

For me, there is far too many negatives that outweigh some positive when it comes to the decision of making a user profile on the site or not.

Yes, free messaging is awesome for a hook up site.

Not many of them have that.

But the fact that there are so many fake profiles, scripted messages and blatant attempts to take your hard-earned money off you just clinches the deal for me.

This isn’t a site where I would look to have a profile.

Plus, if you do have one, your details could end up on another dating site owned by SPDate.

Everything here just seems a little below the board.

Underhanded is perhaps a better word.

So I hope that this review has provided you with all the information you need to make an informed decision as to whether you should be making a profile on WetHunt or not.

For me, the site is a no-go, that’s for sure.

If you are looking for hook up sites, there are plenty of others out there for you to consider, that’s for sure.

That’s not to say they are perfect either.

The nature of hook up sites often raises many of the problems we see on WetHunt.

It just seems like WetHunt has all of these problems instead of just one or two.

As for an overall rating, well WetHunt doesn’t score very well.
